The Thirty-Nine Steps

This week I read "The Thirty-Nine Steps" by John Buchan.
Immediately after returning home, diplomat Richard Hannay was caught in a murder case unexpectedly.  Departing from the police and spy organizations, he travels to Scotland, relying on the word "Thirty-Nine Stairs" left by the killed Scudder.
It is a suspense novel.  The protagonist on the way back to Africa, who is adventurous, is involved in the incident.
A man who knows a conspiracy that might develop into a war asks for help.  However, the man is killed by leaving an encrypted memo in his black notebook.  The protagonist is also targeted, and he goes on an escape while being suspected of killing the man.  And the trials await.

I honestly felt boring.  I think there are few mystery factors.  The times were too old for me to imagine.
