New Yorkers

This week I read “New Yorkers”. This book contains some short stories. Today I will tell you about two stories in this book.
About“The Christmas presents ”.Della and Jim had a tough life, but wanted to manage each other with the best Christmas gifts. Della bought a golden watch chain for Jim with the money she got from selling her beautiful long hair. Jim bought a beautiful comb for Della. However, by the time he handed the present, Della's hair was already short.  Della was a little confused, but was delighted to see the beautiful present.  They lived in love and were poor and happy. 

 About“Soapy’s choice”. Soapy is poor, so he plan to enter the prison and live in a warm room (prison).  For that reason, he try to get caught by the police by eating and drinking without money, throwing stones in the glass of the shop and talking to the woman, but for some reason he can not get caught.  He find myself at a beautiful church when he is at a loss, and he look back on his good memories there, and he decide to become a new him and to live properly.  But he gets caught by a police officer who happens to be there.  It's an ironic story. I like this story B because he ’s funny about trying to get caught by the police.
I wrote down a quote and will discuss them.

 The quote is, “It doesn’t matter if your hair is short or long”. (From “The Christmas Presents) This line is from Jim to Della.  I think it's great to say like Jim.  Can you say that romantic words to a woman you love?

 I want to recommend this book. There are two reasons. The first reason is that it is a short story, so you can read it immediately.  You can read interesting stories without getting bored. The second reason is that there are many heartwarming stories.  In addition to the stories I have introduced today, you can get acquainted with the lives and hearts of people living in New York.  This was very interesting.

    Hi, I read your blog and I have read this story in Japanese before.
    I felt little sad when I read this book for the first time.
    I like this beautiful story because they are thoughtful people for each other!!

 This week I read London by John Escott. It describes the history of London, the famous building, and the royal family.  As I read on, I wanted to go to London. Here are some things that interest me. The first is the Great Fire of London. A pandemic in London in 1665 killed more than 100,000 people. The following year, in 1666, the Great Fire of London broke out. At that time, most of the houses were made of wood, so the city was burned down. The fire did not go out for four days. Most of the old buildings were destroyed. I didn't know this big incident. London, which is now one of the most famous cities in the world, suffered such damage about 350 years ago. I think it was difficult to build the current magnificent buildings and cityscape from there.  Next is the national portrait gallery. It's located in St Martin, where you can see pictures of famous people. There are pictures of world-famous figures such as kings, queens, and William Shakespeare. I want to see it. I will be

The Tickets

Title:The Tickets FRL 16pages This is the story about misunderstanding. Jimmy who sees Jenny's ticket in Kerry's purse gets angry with Kerry. Jimmy says, "But you're not a good friend"(p. 14)  Kerry was going to return the ticket to Jenny. Jimmy suspected Kerry,and doubted too. I think it is not good to doubt without knowing anything. I believe it is important to trust each other in order to keep a good relationship.

ONE-WAY TICKET SHORT STORIES by Jennifer Bassett

      This week I read "One-Way Ticket" by Jennifer Bassett.   There are several short stories in this book, and I will introduce one of them.  "The Girl with Green Eyes" describes what passengers talk about on the train.   There were seven people in the carriage. There was the man in the brown hat; the young man and his wife, Julie; a mother and two children; and a tall dark man in an expensive suit.  There are many expressions about the eyes in this story. The conversations of the passengers were normal and not particularly interesting, but the explanation of the eyes made it interesting to see what they were thinking. I quote one sentence. These are the words that the mothers of the children in this story said. ‘People don’t always need words, young man,’ This word was very impressive. I recommend this book. The reason is that different readers enjoy this story differently. I enjoyed the depiction of the eyes, but others may enjoy their conversation. Please read
